This painting for the UW Art of Hybridization of the female bunting demonstrates what happens during wing feather molt. The painting of the bottom bunting the wing feathers have wear, the middle bird the new wing feathers growing in and the top bird shows the bird with its new primary and secondary wing feathers after molt.
